Perbandingan linguistik historis bahasa Dayak Ngaju dan Bakumpai: Implikasi terhadap pelestarian bahasa dan budaya Kalimantan

Abstract


This research compares the Ngaju and Bakumpai Dayak languages from a historical linguistic perspective, focusing on the phonetic changes in both languages. The Ngaju and Bakumpai Dayak languages are closely related but exhibit significant phonological differences due to social, cultural, and geographical factors. The methods used in this study include lexicostatistical analysis to measure the degree of kinship between the two languages and phonetic change analysis such as apheresis, apocope, syncope, prosthesis, paragon, epenthesis, and metaphysics. The results of this research indicated that the two languages have a kinship level of 80.5%, indicating their closeness within the same language family. This study also highlights the importance of preserving the Bakumpai language, which is threatened with extinction due to the influence of the Banjar Malay language and Indonesian. The results of this research are expected to contribute to linguistic studies in Kalimantan, particularly in preserving local languages and cultures.
