Abstract


This research examines the perennial moral and ethical values in Serat Sandi Wanita, a classic Javanese text that teaches women about their roles in family and society. Through a perennialist perspective, this research uncovers the relevance of traditional teachings such as loyalty, modesty, and spiritual balance in modern life. This research uses a qualitative method with a philological approach to analyze the text of Serat Sandi Wanita to identify the values of women's morality contained therein. The data were analyzed through philological stages such as physical description of the manuscript, text interpretation, and applying perennials to interpret universal values in the context of women's morality. The results show that Serat Sandi Wanita contains moral and ethical teachings rooted in traditional Javanese values, emphasizing the role of women through the concept of Tri Dharma: suwita, swakarya, and swadarma. The symbolism and spiritual references in the text guide to achieving harmony, loyalty and social responsibility that are relevant today. Analysis of the various pupils reveals practical guidance on manners, building interpersonal relationships and maintaining domestic harmony. Overall, the text reflects universal values that integrate spiritual and worldly obligations to create an ethical, social order, which can be integrated to build character in the face of moral and ethical challenges in the era of globalization.
